Well, the NicoDerm™ patch has given me a rash. It might coincide with smoking while using the patch, but let's not split hairs. Why is quitting so difficult? I am smoking less, so that's a good start. So I'm almost ready to launch my first e-booklet: "Mercury Cycling Cap".
I wrote this pattern for 3 men's sizes (M, L, XL). My friend Heather is doing me the gracious favor of copy editing. I set up PayPal. The Yahoo store still needs more programming. But more importantly, I've road-tested this hat. It's been test-knitted in three sizes, worn, washed, crammed in bag... chewed by a dog. It holds up well.
It took a while to arrive at a format after studying patterns that I've purchased — online and off. Mercury is written for the advanced knitter, but I'll be releasing patterns for beginner and intermediate levels as well. This e-booklet has pictoral how-to's for tips and special intructions. I'm no Avedon, but it does help having a decent camera and a lighting system.
Hopefully I'll get the store up and running sooner than later.

Dude! You've been really busy! This looks good.
Thanks Lisa. Yep. this has been a lot of work so far. but it's a small step in larger plan. I'm proofing two more hat patterns and the free scarf pattern
These are great. Have you seen (or tried) selling them on Ravelry? I have bought a few patterns from designers there and it's just so easy (from a buyer's perspective). Dunno if that interests you...
Yep, that's on my to do list. I've been reading up more on Rav store in the Shop Keepers Group. looks like more changes on the shop are coming. I have free scarf pattern that I'd like to post, or just give to Ravelry to contribute the site.
Hey Tony, you might be allergic to the glue on the patch. I developed a horrible allergy to the chemical they use for the glue on patches, bandaids, elastic, latex... It is called mercaptobenzothyazole. I had been using a (hormone) patch and slept on one of those lovely comfortable latex pillows for years. Then I got red welts and blisters all over my neck and shoulders and itched where ever elastic touched my skin. not pretty, and difficult with undergarments. it is not an uncommon allergy to develop from extended exposure.
anyways the pattern looks awesome. let me know when you have it ready to sell, and I will give you a plug on my blog.
Thanks Mrs. Perez, will do. I was wondering if it was the glue. Did I get the winter-season patch? Maybe there's a sport-patch for sweaty people. Hmmmm.
